Birthday Blog Party Winner

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes and coming to my Birthday Blog Party. You all made me feel so special! Awwwww!!!!  So glad you enjoyed hearing some of my favorite childhood party memories.  I also enjoyed reading your fun birthday stories. This was such a cool idea and I hope to do it again next year. :) Maybe next time we will play some games and have more prizes.

I did have some great moments over the last few days especially going to Alamitos Bay yesterday! So relaxing there. Oh, and I did have my Lemon Cake Pie and it was heavenly!!!!  I think I will have to make up another special event so I can get more. LOL!

"Happy early Birthday Kelly! sounds like you had a lot of fun memories, more than me. But the best memory that I have is when I celebrated my 50th in Jamaica! yeah baby! We tried to do everything. we played tennis, went bike riding, went to church, went to a club, of course we got in the turquoise water, went on four tours ate, ate and ate, lol. The VERY sad thing is that I have NO idea where all of my pictures are. We were so lucky to still have them because I slipped and fell in the Dunns River Falls (or something like that) and my camera fell in the water. When we got home i took the chip in and we were still able to put the pics on a cd. We saw the pictures only one time, never to be seen again : (
Anyway, we had a GREAT time, and I'm sure that one day those pics will appear just as mysteriously as they disappeared."

My fave birthday memory, eh? There are a LOT of them, but I'll go with the most epic: My first annual 29th birthday party (where really I turned 22!)... Hundreds of friends, we hired my 5 fave LA bands to play (Black Party Politics, Multitude of Girls, Jussie Smollett, JJ & The Spectacular and Vintage Trouble), my fave djs were on the 1-2s, we had an open bar and even a food truck! I've repeated the extravaganza since, but that first year was incredible!!!

New Note Cards

A while ago I made some thank you cards for my mom and decided to try a smaller sized card- 4 inches by 5.5 inches. I surprisingly enjoyed working with that size. So I am hooked now! I used Crate Paper's Pretty Party paper collection. All the different patterns they have all feel like Summer to me.

I loved hand cutting the flowers and was cutting up a storm. Then I distressed the edges of the flowers and paper with brown ink. Some of the cards are identical and some similar. I like they have their own personality. Don't they look so vintage and fun?

I will be making more with other colors and maybe styles. Looking forward to this, too. So fun and relaxing!

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :)

When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started.

At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party.

Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too.

My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out.

Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and a cousin. It was so great to have my class mates at my home to celebrate with me. We had chili dogs which back then I loved. I am sure we played games and giggled late into the night. My mom was a great party planner so she made sure each party was fun and well planned. Thanks Mom!

Loved my ballerina cake as the girls sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Maybe that is why my fingers were in my ears? LOL!

Another big party I had was my "Sweet Sixteen."  I wish I had some of the pictures to share. They are at my moms. But I had a dance party.  I wore a light pink taffeda dress that flared as I spun around. My cousin and his friend were the djs and I still remember them playing that song "Atomic Dog!" Ha Ha Ha! We had so much fun getting our "boggie on." In fact, one of my friends was dancing so hard his pants busted! The party was so good he went home to change and came back and kept on dancing! Ha Ha Ha!

Last night I had this bright idea to do a blog party and thought it would be fun to celebrate with you-with my online community. Many of you have been great supporters of me and my crafts. Some of you are new acquaintances and some of you I have known for years. So I have to include you all in this moment of my life.

So today through Tuesday, celebrate with me! Then imagine playing games together, eating great food, lots of laughter and of course cake! This year, I am having Marie Callender's lemon cake pie! Yummy! I had some weeks ago and it is so delicious!!!

A Video Gift For Us

Our Mother's Day card collection was a hit! I love how they turned out and hoped all the moms would feel the love we put into these cards. However, I never expected to receive so much of the love I sent out to circle back and hug me!

I love communicating on Twitter (my Twitter name is ksunlight). One of my Twitter friends is the Gospel Recording Artist Vickie Winans.  I met her last year online and shared my cards with her.  She loved them and sent out the most incredible tweets. Since then, she has been an amazing cheerleader for me and K. Simone Designs.

For Mother’s Day I wanted to make something special for Vickie. I thought about creating one of my special mini album cards.  I had some of Prima’s beautiful patterned paper and some other special embellishments. That is just what I needed to get started. After adding some purple glitter paper, bling, delicate trim and flowers, it was a masterpiece!

I packaged the album in this beautiful floral box.

Love that Prima patterned paper. This lavender heart shaped slider was just perfect.

Ron and I were so excited to send it to her and couldn’t wait to hear her response.  Well, she tweeted the following:

Can you believe it? This was an incredible gesture of gratitude and love. You should of seen Ron and I as we watched this. I cried and we laughed, smiled, and rejoiced.  What a gift she gave us! I will never forget it! WOW! :)

She really expressed the spirit of my work. I want these cards to uplift and encourage others. I want the receivers to feel so hugged and cherished.  This makes me so happy to know my efforts are bringing such joy and love to others.  I see what I do as a gift from God. So it is extra exciting to see Him work through my hands to bless others. Amazing!!!

The Last of the Mother's Day Cards

Well, we made it through Mother's Day. I made lots of beautiful cards and they sold well. So thankful! Here are a few more to share that turned out so nice.

Used Teresa Collins pp and the flower is Prima. This pp is so heavy and textured. Love it!

More Teresa Collins pp, lacy ribbon trim and a rhinestone slider. Love this card!

Used Prima Meadowlark pp, pink and pearl trim and the sentiment is on pop dots.

Love this circle cut out card. I used Prima pp with this lavender cs, Recollections flowers and leaves and pearls.

Used my Spellbinder to cut this shape.

This was one of my favorites too. I used Recollections flowers and leaves, Zva bling and a little purple glitter paper on the sentiment.
